Cocoa extract standardized to 6% of theobromine – theobromine is a purine alkaloid, has a hypotensive effect – in high doses lowers blood pressure and at the same time increases diuresis. It was found that this compound administered in small doses causes the expansion of blood vessels in the brain, which in turn improves blood circulation of the organ and improves its functioning. On the similar principle, theobromine affects the heart (dilates coronary vessels). Theobromine has little stimulating properties. Some sources indicate that the use of theobromine may be helpful in weight reduction programs. This substance in combination with caffeine and polyphenols contained in green tea has a thermogenic effect.
